The 12 sites listed above are being talked about as Google killers in an interesting article that I have come across. Ranging from vertical search engines to search engines that utilize a new technology – “natural language technology” to old competitors that have revamped their sites, all are preparing to combat Google and beat it at its own game.
Though some sites do offer interesting potential, I don’t quite think that any one of them can actually kill Google. Perhaps a combination of ‘Hakia’ (with its natural language technology), ‘search.wikia.com’ or (with its concept) & ‘Kayak’ (with its design & UI) will do it. And by the time all of them will get together (if at all they do manage to come together), Google would have already possessed these unique elements or better still, end up buying them!
In any case, Google admirers and bashers have to keep watching this space.
